CNC engraving machines usually use small tools for fine machining, not only milling and grinding, but also drilling and high-speed tapping. This is very common in the 3C industry and medical industry. About CNC engraving, we collect five common questions that share with you. As following:
1. What are the principles of CNC engraving processing and CNC milling? They both use milling principles. The main difference between the two is the diameter of the tools used. Among them, the commonly used tool diameter for CNC milling commonly used 6-40 mm tool diameter. However, CNC engraving used 0.2-3 mm tool diameter. 2. Does CNC milling mean that it can only do rough machining? And CNC engraving is the opposite? This problem is related to the machining process. Rough machining is characterized by a large amount of machining, while finishing is the opposite. Its machining amount is small. Thus, people often think of rough machining as "heavy cutting" and finishing as "light cutting". In fact, rough machining, semi-finishing, and finishing represent different processing stages, which are the concept of the technological process. So CNC milling not only can do heavy cutting but also can do the light cutting. However, CNC engraving can only do the light cutting. 3. What are the main factors affecting engraving processing? Machining has many influencing factors, and it is a complicated process. The main factors affecting engraving processing are different processing techniques, differences in cutting tools, material and machine tool characteristics, control systems, environmental factors, auxiliary fixtures, etc. 4. Which materials are suitable for engraving processing? Metal materials suitable for engraving: copper, aluminum and low carbon steel with hardness lower than HRC40. Regards to metal materials, quenched steel is not suitable for engraving. Suitable non-metallic materials: wood, resin, organic glass, etc. Not suitable non-metallic materials: natural marble and glass.
